I have a simple Rod Wrapper kit. It is made from Select Pine. All holes are pre-drilled in the base so all you need to do to assemble it is to screw it together and glue on the felt. It has a routered dovetail track with Walnut sliders to position your thread. It comes with instructions, one thread tensioner, and a separate V-block support for projects that are longer.
The thread tensioner is a commercial tensioner designed for Juki machines- It gives a nice range of tension-so it can meet the expectations you have for your wrap.
I make two models of Rod Wrappers- this model is about 19" long and it is asymmetrical. You are only able to wrap the ferrules or the tip top from the right side.
The lines on this wrapper are very clean. There is nothing to get in your way as you are putting on your guides.
This tool design has literally been used to make 1,000's of rods.
It comes with felt and the hardware you need to assemble it. The hardware includes the tensioner, the fastening screws, three walnut sliders with eye screws and two finishing nails for the thread--You could substitute dowel rod, but the nails have worked fine for me. You will need a Phillips screw driver, hammer, scissors, glue, and a drill to put this together. A drill with a Phillips screw bit or a Screw gun will make assembly much easier. A little sandpaper can be used to take off some of the router fuzz but it's not necessary.
Put a couple of coats of Poly on this and keep it out of the sun and it will last you forever
This design has been used to literally build 1000's of rods and it works great!
Due to the higher price of materials I have had to raise the price of my Rod Wrapper- I apologize, but the price of lumber has increased 270% in Wisconsin.
This is what we do for fun--Enjoy your build!!
I build these out of my home in Wisconsin- if you have any problem with the operation of your Rod Wrapper please let me know and I will do what I can to help. Due to the higher price of materials I have had to raise the price of my Rod Wrapper.
The price of the shipping is flexible-your cost is based on the distance from Osceola, Wisconsin.
We only ship to the continental United States- for international orders use eBay's Global Shipping link. Thread and Rod blank are not included.
